Отрывок был взят из романа Владимира Павловича Беляева «Старая крепость».

Потасовка, которая описана в отрывке, произошла между скаутами, пришедшими в поход в украинское село, и местными ребятами, в том числе и прятавшимися от петлюровцев в селе героями книги: Василём Манджурой, Юзеком Стародомским, по прозвищу Куница и Петькой Маремухой.

Книга очень интересная, особенно первая часть, и вполне подходит для детского чтения и в наше время.

Роман, кстати, трижды экранизировался. Последняя версия не сильно отличалась от книги, а вот фильм «Тревожная молодость», был, как говорят «снят по мотивам», то есть сценарий сильно отличался от самого литературного произведения. Даже главные герои были изменены.

Может быть, тем, кто помнит эту книгу, будет интересно узнать, что хотя в самой книге город не назван, но речь идёт про город Каменец-Подольский. И старая крепость в нём действительно существует.

Построили эту крепость, или, точнее замок, вероятно, литовские князья в середине или второй половине XIV века.

Сохранился он достаточно хорошо, и сейчас является важным туристическим объектом, привлекающим в город немало туристов из разных стран.
